Members of the Cruisin’ Critter Run For It Team were out in full force running and walking to raise funds for Mountaineer Humane Society (MHS). The organization recently initiated a Tucker Community Foundation agency endowed fund. Karen Linton , MHS President, states the mission of the organization “is to promote the adoption and responsible guardianship of homeless, neglected, abused and abandoned domestic animals; prevent pet overpopulation by sponsoring spay/neuter programs; and promote humane treatment of animals and prevent cruelty to animals by providing shelter, health care, and community education services”. The Mountaineer Humane Society Fund of TCF was initiated with funds donated by the MHS along with Run For It proceeds and donations from the general public. The organization started in October 2002 and serves all of Tucker County. Donations to this fund should be mailed to: TCF – MHS Fund, PO Box 491, Parsons, WV 26287. Applications are available for non- profit groups, community organizations, and groups that perform charitable work within the Foundation’s 6 county service area.
