Uncle Sam’s Birthday Party is an elimination dinner that serves as a fund raiser for the Tucker Community Foundation. Only 250 tickets are sold. Proceeds from the event are used for general operations of the Foundation that support unrestricted grant and scholarship awards for communities within its six county service area.
This year’s event was held at Bear Paw Lodge (Canaan Valley Resort) Saturday, July 4 . The social hour began at 5 p.m. and dinner followed at 6. The party was a hot ticket item and tickets sold out well in advance.
This year’s ticket holder enjoyed a barbeque buffet dinner for two. Each ticket provided one chance on a $5,000 jackpot. There were additional chances to win $125 – $500 or any one of a number of colorful door prizes. Additional raffle tickets were sold at the dinner for other special prizes announced during the evening.
This year, in celebration of the Foundation’s 20th anniversary, a 2008 Chevy Malibu (compliments of Performance Chevrolet, Parsons) was awarded in addition to the cash prizes.
